Australia's competition watchdog will launch an investigation into clothing importers who are reaching agreements with international suppliers to stop selling their products to Australians on overseas websites or instructing them to lift their web prices.
The chairman of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, Rod Sims, acknowledged the uncompetitive practices could breach competition legislation and any companies found breaking the law would be prosecuted.
ACCC to probe online price deals
The competition regulator has announced it will investigate clothing importers who are making deals with international online stores to inflate prices for Australian shoppers.
There are reports that some fashion importers and retailers are asking international websites to increase prices for Australian shoppers or restrict sales of particular brands.
