Two very similar Associated Press stories on the registering of domain names following the Virginia Tech shooting massacre are widely published. Domain names with some relevance to the tragedy were registered, and many then offered for sale or to display advertising by those hoping to make a quick buck. The general counsel for Go Daddy says anytime there's a tragedy people register relevant domain names. Sedo's chief operating officer says Sedo shut down auctions of domain names related to the tragedy, saying "We do feel that they fly in the face of our offensive domain policy. It is quite tasteless."
